It is a model WD1200 120g harddrive. Last time i used it it worked just fine. Now when I plug it in, each time Windows goes through the "Found New Hardware" process, It comes up as a WD harddrive, but then nothing, no access to it through my computer. It used to come up as Drive F: or G: depending on what else I had hooked up. In device manager it comes up under USB Serial Bus Controllers as "USB Mass Storage Device". What is happening here and how do I fix it? This thing has all my family videos on it and I don’t have any other copies of them!!!!!
I have tried deleting the device and reinstalling it, it only goes through the same "Found new hardware" process as before.
I’ll look for the utility disk. It did not come with one but I’ll see if I can find it online.
In Disk Management, The drive does not come up, however, with the WD plugged in (which should come up as F: drive, I plugged in a flash drive and it came up as G: drive. Also my main C: drive is labeled "Disk 0" and the flash now comes up as "Disk 2". It’s like its there but just not seeing it.
So what if I go to Disk Management and the drive is not there?
